Learn to discover customer needs and validate product ideas at the Professional Product Discovery and Validation™ certification course.
The course focuses on practical discovery and validation: formulating hypotheses, designing experiments and making decisions based on evidence.
The price of the course includes one attempt at the certification assessment. If you attempt it within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt for free.
You do not need to have your video camera turned on, no one will check you during the exam. Scrum.org trusts its students.
Start the exam whenever you feel ready. Once you start it, you have a limit of 30min. The remaining time will be displayed on the screen.
You choose one or more options. For most questions, it is stated how many options are correct. (E.g. "choose two best answers".)
You will see the result immediately after submitting the test. At the same time, you will receive feedback on which areas you did well and where you still have gaps.
The questions focus on three areas:
The exam tests your understanding of discovery and validation in an Agile environment. Knowing the rules of Scrum alone is not enough to prepare; focus on applying these practices in specific situations.
You need a score of at least 85% to pass.
If you attempt the exam within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt free of charge. You can then take the exam again anytime you feel ready. Otherwise, you can buy another attempt directly from Scrum.org.
To prepare for the certification assessment, we recommend studying from these resources:
Go through the official training materials and your notes. We will share with you photos of everything we create during the training. Refresh and strenghten your knowledge.
Go through the official PPDV preparation guide and use its navigation to study all three areas: Engage with Vision, Evolve with Validation and Lead to Value. Each lists the required knowledge and recommended articles, videos and other resources.
In Evolve with Validation, focus particularly on user interviews, choosing experiments and working with Test Cards and Learning Cards. Make sure you understand how validation results inform decisions about where to invest next.
Using examples from the course, try to explain which assumption you are testing, which experiment you would choose and what its result would help you decide.
Avoid preparation courses led by unlicensed trainers. They usually focus only on drilling test questions and do not explain Scrum and its application in practice. At the same time, you cannot be sure about the quality of the trainer and their knowledge.
Avoid sample test questions if they do not come directly from Scrum.org or licensed Professional Scrum Trainers. Similarly to unauthorized preparation courses, you cannot be sure whether the questions correctly represent the certification exam questions and correct answers.
