Globally recognized PSM-I certification exam proves your understanding of the basic principles of Scrum according to the official Scrum Guide, excellent knowledge of the framework, consistent use of terminology and the ability to apply Scrum in a team.
The certification has lifetime validity.
The best way to learn about Scrum and agile principles is to attend a Professional Scrum Master™ course.
The course focuses on understanding principles and practical application of Scrum in teams and organizations. It lays a solid foundation for your Scrum knowledge.
The price of the course includes one attempt at the certification assessment. If you attempt it within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt for free.
You do not need to have your video camera turned on, no one will check you during the exam. Scrum.org trusts its students.
Start the exam whenever you feel ready. Once you start it, you have a limit of 60min. The remaining time will be displayed on the screen.
You choose one or more options. For most questions, it is stated how many options are correct. (E.g. "choose two best answers".)
You will see the result immediately after submitting the test. At the same time, you will receive feedback on which areas you did well and where you still have gaps.
Questions are mostly short. They focus primarily on:
Questions will not try to catch you on wordplay (framework vs. methodology, Developers vs. Development Team), but they pay attention to terminology (Sprint Review, not demo, refinement, not grooming).
However, they can catch you on stereotyped experiences instead of thinking in Scrum ("Sprint Review is a collaborative meeting where we agree on the next steps" vs. "project manager on Sprint Review accepts delivered user stories").
If you attempt the exam within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt free of charge. You can then take the exam again anytime you feel ready. Otherwise, you can buy another attempt directly from Scrum.org.

Go through the official training materials and your notes. We will share with you photos of everything we create during the training. Refresh and strenghten your knowledge.
Read (several times) the official Scrum Guide↗. The last revision was released on November 18, 2020 and brought a number of changes. Read carefully. It is not enough to just learn the responsibilities and framework, many questions require interpretation and application of Scrum in practical situations.
A good idea of what to expect is provided by the official sample assessment Scrum Open↗. It is free, takes 30 minutes and contains 30 randomly selected questions from a larger pool, some of which may appear in the real assessment.
The sample assessment is generally easier than the actual certification exam. If you have trouble getting 100% in less than 10 minutes, you are not yet ready for the certification exam.
Go through the resources in the official Scrum Master Learning Path↗ on Scrum.org. Focus on the areas you struggled with in the sample test. Continue studying the resources even after passing the assessment. The knowledge you gain will be most useful in your practice.

The book Scrum - A Pocket Guide by Gunther Verheyen, a long-time Scrum.org trainer, describes Scrum in detail as it was intended, with emphasis on its principles and rules. You can get the book as a gift with the Professional Scrum Master™ course.
Avoid preparation courses led by unlicensed trainers. They usually focus only on drilling test questions and do not explain Scrum and its application in practice. At the same time, you cannot be sure about the quality of the trainer and their knowledge.
Avoid sample test questions if they do not come directly from Scrum.org or licensed Professional Scrum Trainers. Similarly to unauthorized preparation courses, you cannot be sure whether the questions correctly represent the certification exam questions and correct answers.
