How to pass Professional Scrum Master II certification assessment
Globally recognized PSM-II certification exam requires experience and proves your ability to apply Scrum principles in real situations.

Attend a Professional Scrum Master™ Advanced course
The best way to deepen your Scrum knowledge and gain inspiration is to attend a Professional Scrum Master™ Advanced course.
The course focuses on sharing experiences and knowledge between participants, expanding the range of practices and techniques and strengthening the principles of Scrum.

The price of the course includes one attempt at the certification assessment. If you attempt it within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt for free.
About the exam
You take the exam online at your computer.
You do not need to have your video camera turned on, no one will check you during the exam. Scrum.org trusts its students.
Whenever you want. It takes 90min.
Start the exam whenever you feel ready. Once you start it, you have a limit of 90min. The remaining time will be displayed on the screen.
30 multiple choice questions.
You choose one or more options. For most questions, it is stated how many options are correct. (E.g. "choose two best answers".)
Evaluated immediately.
You will see the result immediately after submitting the test. At the same time, you will receive feedback on which areas you did well and where you still have gaps.
Focus of the exam
The exam tests your experience and ability to apply Scrum principles in real situations.
The vast majority of questions are situational.
- They describe a scenario that you solve from the position of Scrum Master.
- You choose from multiple options how to best solve the situation, using Scrum principles and values.
- Watch out for stereotyped experiences!
The exam assumes knowledge of Scrum at the level of the introductory Professional Scrum Master™ course.
What if I fail the exam?
If you attempt the exam within 14 days after the course and fail to pass, you will get automatically another attempt free of charge. You can then take the exam again anytime you feel ready. Otherwise, you can buy another attempt directly from Scrum.org.

Training materials
Go through the official training materials and your notes. We will share with you photos of everything we create during the training. Refresh and strenghten your knowledge.
Your own experience
The exam primarily tests your ability to apply Scrum in real situations, i.e. your existing experience. If you don't have at least 1 year of practice in the Scrum Master role, it will be difficult to prepare for the exam.
We highly recommend attending the Professional Scrum Master™ Advanced course, where you can compare your experience and exchange experiences with other participants and get inspiration for your further development.
Scrum Guide
Refresh the official Scrum Guide↗. The last revision was released on November 18, 2020 and brought a number of changes. Read carefully.
Scrum Open
A good idea of what to expect is provided by the official sample assessment Scrum Open↗. It is free, takes 30 minutes and contains 30 randomly selected questions from a larger pool, some of which may appear in the real assessment.
- Go through sample assessment several times to get familiar with all the questions in the pool.
- Pay attention to the detailed explanation of each answer in the assessment results.
The sample assessment is generally easier than the actual certification exam. If you have trouble getting 100% in less than 10 minutes, you are not yet ready for the certification exam.

Go through the resources in the official Scrum Master Learning Path↗ on Scrum.org. Focus on the areas you struggled with in the sample test. Continue studying the resources even after passing the assessment. The knowledge you gain will be most useful in your practice.

What to avoid
Unlicensed preparation courses
Avoid preparation courses led by unlicensed trainers. They usually focus only on drilling test questions and do not explain Scrum and its application in practice. At the same time, you cannot be sure about the quality of the trainer and their knowledge.
Unauthorized sample questions
Avoid sample test questions if they do not come directly from Scrum.org or licensed Professional Scrum Trainers. Similarly to unauthorized preparation courses, you cannot be sure whether the questions correctly represent the certification exam questions and correct answers.
